Want to know a fun way to improve your writing skills???? Keep reading!

As part of the preparation for the writing TAKS test in March 2010, students on Mr. Hernandez’s fourth grade class are creating “impressive” writing pieces.
In November they had lots of fun making a Big Book. Working in teams, under the supervision of their teacher, students had an opportunity to showcase their writing skills by creating “real” pages on their Big Books. They also learned how to illustrate a book and the important role of an illustrator. This activity not only fostered their academic skills but also helped the class bond and created a sense of community and cooperation.
Now in December they created an individual book in which they tell the readers about a personal experience.  Students had to interview their parents to obtain important information from their childhood. This project will end with a chapter book written by them. All students were so excited working on this project. They all agreed this has been a great writing experience.

We invite you to come and see for yourself the beautiful books showcased in one of our bulletin boards. Keep writing!
